Here's the URL for the Macmillan dictionary for advanced learners of English.
The intro page tells you about the red starred words and also gives you a link to a free and extremely useful ap.
There is also a paper version of the dictionary. It comes as either British or American English. I don't mind which you use in the exams as long as you stick to one variety or the other and don't mix them.
